Members' Status

You are a member as soon as you arrive on the course. You become a Fellow once you have successfully completed it.

UK and EU Residents

On arrival at Bishopsland UK and EU residents become self-employed craftsmen. During the year you have the support of the workshop and the staff, but you can and indeed should, start to make and sell on your own account. Take full advantage of what is a unique situation.

Overseas Residents

According to Home Office rules, overseas residents are classified as students. You too should take the opportunity to make and sell on your own account but you are limited to 15 hours paid work per week. We interpret this to mean a maximum of £9,000 sales of which £6,000 is profit or earnings during your year. Bishopsland is registered with the Department of Education and Skills as an educational provider, registration no 20303.
