Teaching & Masterclasses

Bishopsland has a number of well respected tutors and visiting experts who are available to assist our craftsmen in developing their abilities.

In addition, the Principal and Vice-Principal have a wealth of experience in business and in successful silver and jewellery work. For information on the staff at Bishopsland. See our staff page.

Teaching

Bishopsland is a learning community and learning is very much by doing. One of the first tasks is to produce a body of work up to exhibition standard for the first show. It has to be priced, packed, displayed and ready for sale to the public. Up to standard and out on time.

Tutors are available to help, but the lead must come from you. You set out your project and you will get help and frank criticism. Designs are never imposed and you are encouraged to experiment.

If you are weak in a certain area you will be helped to improve your technique or your speed.

Masterclasses

There are a number of high level Masterclasses including one given by Rod Kelly, Senior Fellow and Trustee. These are intensive and demanding events and are highly stimulating. There are also occasional projects and competitions, which are available to take part in
